What can you do for Birmingham Music Month? Please comment here and tell us. You could put on a gig, put out a new track (from Brum), write a song about Brum, collaborate with someone new, contribute to Birmingham Music Archive, offer a venue, design a poster…

I’d love to collaborate with some people
Live performance really isn’t my forte, so recording would be sweet.
A free compilation from birmingham artists would be awesome

I agree about the free compilation.
I’m happy to organise that as an online giveaway and promote it through the site. Any Birmingham artist that wants to submit a track to the free Brum Music Month compilation, please upload a track to my Soundcloud Dropbox: http://soundcloud.com/dubber/dropbox – no mp3s – full lossless audio only please – WAV files or AIFFs.

I’ve already stuck a couple of tracks from my soon-to-be-released debut (steaming on my muxtape) in your dropbox for consideration for the audio book, which I’d be more than happy to stick on a compilation.
There’s another which might be a better choice, but I don’t want to overload you…

Would be happy to provide the venue and any help I can with organising

to Kate Manion, what venue do you have, would u recomend? Lookin to put a hardcore/punk gig on end of the month as part of the event. Reshuffle of venue leaves choice pretty open rele?

have also submitted a track, other end of spectrum, more hardcore/punk. will spread the word amongst said community at gigs etc, try to get that scene representing.

Oh wait – wow… I really like Jez’s idea: contemporary Birmingham artists releasing cover versions of classic Birmingham artists. Friends of the Stars are doing Duran Duran’s Rio… etc.
James Welch 8:49 pm on May 21, 2009 Permalink |
that’s a GREAT idea. (I might need a list of possible artists though….)
josh 8:51 pm on May 21, 2009 Permalink |
possible seperate post for ideas on the covers front?
dubber 9:06 pm on May 21, 2009 Permalink
Done. There’s a call for cover version suggestions.

We have volunteers from @aquilatv who’ll make a logo tomorrow and get this branding thing going

That’s fantastic news. Unbelievable how quickly things like this come together in this town.

yeah @exsanguinator has been doing design research and catching up on things as this all started before he was home

I’ll busk, play, review, write, anything really!

Fused put together a CD that we took to SXSW – not all Brum bands but the majority were. We still have quite a few so they could potentially be used for Promo’s?
Kerryfused 4:12 pm on May 22, 2009 Permalink |
And we have done loads of interviews with Birmingham bands in the past – maybe we could dig those out as some kind of archive?

Great on both counts Kerry, this is a let’s just do it and let’s see what comes out of it. All suggestions, offers, actions are great people just do whatever you want and tag it Brum Music Month
